1. Crucial Checks Before Uploading Images (Most Important!)

⚠️ The 1 Pixel = 1 Stitch Rule 1 Pixel of the image uploaded to the studio is converted exactly into 1 Stitch in actual knitting. If you upload just any image, the chart will become impossibly huge, so you MUST adjust the image resolution (size) first.

For example, if your desired fabric size is 50 stitches wide and 70 rows high, the design image you upload must be edited to exactly 50 pixels wide by 70 pixels high. If you upload a high-resolution photo taken with a smartphone or camera as is, it will generate a chart with thousands of stitches, making it practically unknittable.

💡 Tip: We highly recommend using dedicated pixel art apps, Photoshop, or web-based pixel editors to create a pixel design matching your exact stitch count and saving it as a PNG format. Simply shrinking the image using MS Paint is also a viable method.

2. Feature Introduction: Generating Charts

Uploading Front / Back

In the 'Generate & Save' tab on the studio's main screen, you can upload your carefully prepared pixel images.

  • Upload Front: Upload the design image that will appear on the outside (front) of the fabric.
  • Upload Back: Upload the design image that will appear on the inside (back) of the fabric. (It's perfectly fine if the design is completely different from the front!)

Both images MUST have the exact same width and height in pixels for the program to synthesize the two sides into a chart. You can easily upload them by clicking to select files or dragging and dropping files from your desktop.

Selecting Chart Mode

We provide two types of results depending on your chart-reading preference.

  • Simple Chart: This mode marks cells with a dot (•) where the front and back share the same color. It's great for grasping the overall flow of the pattern at a glance and features a clean, concise layout.
  • Detailed Chart: This mode unravels all stitches of odd columns (front) and even columns (back), displaying them in an alternating layout. The even columns (back) are marked with a hyphen ('-'). This is highly useful when you want to check stitch by stitch with pinpoint accuracy to avoid color confusion.

Select a mode and press the [Generate Chart] button to instantly complete the conversion!

3. Downloading Charts and Offline Storage

Once the chart is completed, download buttons will appear at the bottom of the screen. This feature is for those who find it frustrating to knit while looking only at a browser screen, or who prefer knitting while marking directly on a paper chart with a pen.

  • Download Chart PDF: You can save the generated chart to your computer or smartphone as a high-quality PDF file.
  • Print Optimized: The downloaded PDF is optimized for A4 paper printing. Print it anytime, anywhere, and enjoy non-mirror double knitting comfortably offline.
